Spirit Day at Valwood School in Valdosta

Posted: Updated:

There is plenty of spirit in this the final week of the high school football regular season.

Sports Director Robert Hydrick takes our Spirit Week cameras to Valwood School in Valdosta where the Valiants will fight for a playoff berth tonight against Flint River.

"Blue!" chants one side of the gym.

"Orange!" is the answer from the opposite side, and it continues: "Blue!"  "Orange!"

The Valwood cheerleaders proclaim: "We are very proud of our boys. They are 7-2 this season!"

The crowd responds with cheers and one student blows a horn as dressed up students fire up the crowd.

The Valiants football team enters the gym to cheers from their fans. Souvenir footballs and T-shirts handed out.

Cheerleaders cheer everybody on, yelling "Go, go! Who you gonna yell for?"

Students answer: "Valiants, Valiants!"

Cheerleaders ask "What are you going to do now?"

Students respond with "Win, win!"

Cheerleaders chant "Put it all together now!"

And students yell "Go, go!"

"We want to let you know our motto this season is 'one heartbeat' and y'all have been part of that heartbeat coming out and supporting us. Come out and support us tonight. Go Valiants!" said J. B. Bahnsen, Valwood QB-DB

Valwood cheerleaders did a rousing dance routine before Valwood Head Coach Brannon Tidwell said: "We are 4-0 at home, and the reason we are 4-0 is because all of you supporting us! The guys play really good and they know we don't lose at home on senior night."

The students cheered "Go Valiants go!"

Senior night and a spot in the playoffs, it doesn't get any bigger for the Valwood Valiants who host Flint River tonight at 7:30.

We'll have highlights of tonight's Valwood-Flint River game tonight at 11 in the Locker Room Report.
