DOUGHERTY COUNTY, GA (WALB) - Police are searching for a gunman who opened fire on a Dougherty County home while the family slept inside.

Tonya Morris says she, her fiance and son awoke to the sound of a bullet piercing their Moultrie Road home around 11:30 Friday night. The bullet entered the front of the home, went through the closet, grazed the clothes, and continued through the living room wall.

It shattered when it hit the back door. Even though no one was hurt, Morris said it came too close to the bed she was sleeping in.

"I'm grateful to be alive because if it wasn't for that hill there, it would have gone into the bedroom and would have possibly hit me," said Morris.

It's believed the shooter was driving a Blue Chevrolet Z-71 pickup truck. This incident comes nearly a month after someone shot at a Putney home. The shooters also drove away in a pickup truck.
