ALBANY, GA (WALB) – With the passage of the health care bill this year, there will be some changes in the type of coverage that patients receive.
That's especially true when it comes to seniors and their prescriptions. Medicare Part D is the plan that covers prescriptions. And in 2011, there will be changes in the program.
Right now, some patients have a gap in their coverage when the cost of prescription drugs is between $2,840 and $4,550. The changes will allow seniors to pick up supplemental insurance to fill in that gap.
Georgia Cares is the state agency that handles Medicare, and they say that there have been a lot of questions.
Open enrollment for Medicare begins November 15th. If you have questions about Medicare Part D, you can call your local Georgia Cares representative.
