TIFTON, GA (WALB) – A political newcomer will take over U.S. Congressman elect Austin Scott's seat in Georgia's General Assembly.

Tifton Republican Tony McBrayer won the District 153 seat that represents Turner and Tift counties.

He says his experience as a small business owner will help him get Georgians back to work.

"I've never ran for political office before but I feel like we need more Christians involved in our government. I'm also a small businessman. We've owned TMM Enterprises for 21 years. I think that experiences helps me good in Atlanta to help get the Georgia economy growing and going again. That's definitely the number one issue on everyone's mind is getting more jobs to Georgia," said McBrayer.

McBrayer is a member of the Tiftarea Tea Party Patriots.

He grew up in Tifton and has operated a wholesale grocery distributor there since 1989.
