THOMASVILLE, GA (WALB) –People in Thomasville will soon have an affordable way to make energy efficient upgrades to their homes.
The Thomasville City Council approved an ordinance on first reading to provide "On-Bill" financing to eligible customers so they can buy energy efficient appliances or make energy efficient home improvements.
The program is funded by the Department of Energy and will allow the city to collect zero-interest loan payments through its customers' monthly utility bills.
"We feel like it's a very beneficial program to improve efficiency in Thomasville and Georgia by allowing these customers to make these energy efficient improvements on their home," says the City of Thomasville Customer Service Director Karis Mills.
The City of Thomasville has been awarded a $200,000 revolving loan fund to operate the On-Bill program for years to come.
