ALBANY, GA (WALB) - Georgia Southern (4-4) fell to Samford 20-13 at home on Saturday. Jerick McKinnon started in place of Jaybo Shaw, who was injured last week, but Shaw returned with 5:03 left in the third quarter with Samford ahead 13-6.
Shaw was intercepted in the fourth quarter by Samford's Sean Thompson at the Eagles' 21, leading to Evans' second touchdown for the Bulldogs.
Laron Scott returned the ensuing kickoff 76 yards and gave Georgia Southern a short field, leading to an 11-yard run by Shaw. That's as close as the Eagles would get as they lose 20-13 and fall to 2-3 in the conference.
