After losing in the second round of last year's state playoffs, the Vikettes are headed to Columbus for a fifth time in the last six year.
Alex Gray said. "Our main focus was to make it to the elite eight. So, that goal was reached and now we have a shot to compete for it. This team has worked hard. They want to be remembered as a team works hard and has a lot of class and character. I am excited to see what we are going to do next week."
Lowndes plays Grayson on 5:30 p.m. Thursday in Columbus.
At 12:00 p.m. Berrien battles North Oconee in AA and in Class A Irwin County plays Providence Christian.

Head coach Alex Gray says the success for the Vikette softball team is no secret.
He says hard work is what has got them to the state finals and it is that same work ethic they believe will earn them a state championship.
