Man pleads guilty in Cracker Barrel attack

By Ben Roberts - bio | email

JONESBORO, GA (WALB) – A south Georgia man pleads guilty to beating a woman at a metro Atlanta Cracker Barrel, but not before he took the stand in his trial to tell his side of the story.

Troy West, from Poulan, was sentenced to six months in prison late Friday after reaching a deal to plead to misdemeanor charges in Clayton County. He could have been sentenced to 44 years if convicted on felony charges in the beating of Army Reservist Tasha Hill in front of her young daughter in September 2009.

Hill says West nearly hit her daughter with a door, and when she confronted him, he yelled racial epithets as he beat her. West says Hill threatened him and spit on him.
