VALDOSTA, GA (WALB) - Valdosta State linebacker Larry Dean does not care for personal records.
When you are on the verge of breaking a school record held by Jessie Tuggle, then it is accomplishment worthy of notice for former Tift County Blue Devil.

Larry Dean is just 20 tackles from breaking Jessie Tuggle's VSU record of 340.
Tuggle and Dean are the only two Valdosta State players to have more than 300 tackles in their career.
Larry Dean like Jessie Tuggle is more than a tackling machine.
Dean is a leader on the VSU defense and has started 38 of 42 games during his career.
His goal is to win a national championship but even Larry knows being compared to Jessie Tuggle is something very special.
Larry Dean said. "We just all fit in the scheme. Everyone does their role. They create things that free me up to make plays and things of that nature.
Head coach David Dean said. "I don't think there is any question we are as successful as we are on defense because we have got good players. Because they feed off the talents, the enthusiasm and the passion Larry Dean carries to our football team."
Larry Dean looks to get closer to Jessie Tuggle's school record for tackles Saturday when the Blazers host Arkansas-Monticello.
