THOMAS COUNTY, GA (WALB) –More than 1000 volunteers will come together Saturday for the 7th Annual Hands on Thomas County Day.

The event is Thomas County's largest day of community service.

Volunteers will fan out across the county to clean, rake, paint, build and plant at 41 sites that need a helping hand.

"The thing is they're not glamorous," says Casey Dysterhouse, the Hands on Thomas County Executive Director.

"But I try to tell everyone that every little thing makes a difference. Especially in the economy we're in. A little raking or paint goes a long way. So people aren't really picky about their jobs. They just want to help out."

A noon lunch will be held at Cherokee Lake Park to celebrate and reflect on the impact of the service day and will feature live entertainment.
