ALBANY, GA (WALB) – An Albany church is trying to improve the lives of young people by getting them to stand together against violence.
Wednesday night the youth department of United Pure Life Ministries kicked off Youth Explosion.
The church will host five days of events to steer young people away from crime and violence.
Church leaders say instilling something positive in young people's lives can make a big difference.
"Take one positive thing and it could make you have a positive and better future but you can also make the wrong decision and you can have a dark future," said Reginald Leonard, Youth Minister.
Events this weekend include a community stop the violence walk starting at the Civic Center at 9 o'clock Saturday morning and a youth service at the church on Moultrie Road Sunday.
