Dry conditions could lead to more fires

ALBANY, GA (WALB) –With these dry conditions, rangers warn of the potential for an increase of fires.

Most of our fires occur from small debris piles, and during this time of year that pile may rekindle.

Dougherty county's only had one but there have been 13 in more rural Lee County, eight last month.

"It might be a small pile but if we have to come and put your fire out and you are not legal by having a permit you are responsible for the cost and equipment and personal that it took to suppress that fire also," said Tom Lambert, Chief Ranger.
