Today, the Dougherty County commission unanimously voted to allow the United Way of Southwest Georgia to distribute the prescription discount cards in public buildings.
They're already available at most pharmacies.
United Way President Dwayne Myles told commissioners today putting the cards in public buildings will reach more people who need help buying their medicine.
"You don't have to have insurance and if you do have insurance you can still use the discount cards, so we are looking at reach a mass amount of folks not getting coverage," said Dwayne Myles, President of the United Way of SW GA.
The program has been in place since 2008 and so far has saved people in Dougherty County 75,000 dollars.
