ALBANY, GA (WALB) – A Moultrie man is charged with child molestation in a weekend assault on a 10 year old girl.
Police say 33 year old Fortino Mendez Auguiler was arrested Sunday and charged with child molestation and aggravated sexual battery. Moultrie Police got a call Saturday from the girl's mother. Police believe the incident happened Friday night when the child was in Auguiler's care. The child later told her mother about the inappropriate touching and a forensic exam was ordered.
"The attitude or the openness with the parent, the child with the parent is definitely recommended to make it open in how to come forward and talk to you about if they feel that they are inappropriately touched or touched in an area they don't feel comfortable being touched in," said Moultrie Police Commander Alfonzo Cook.
Auguiler remains in the Colquitt County Jail without bond. Police say the case is an ongoing investigation with DFACS because other children may have been involved.
