ALBANY, GA (WALB) – This weekend the first South Georgia Throwdown was held in Albany.

It's a fierce competition of individuals and teams putting muscle against weights in a series of events.

It's all part of CrossFit, a core strength and conditioning program.

Most exercises are done without machines, they stress shorter high-intensity cardiovascular sessions.

About 70 people in CrossFit groups from North Carolina, Florida and Alabama were here to compete.

"We're asking them to go through these exercises at high-intensity as fast as they can," said Kris Morrill, World Camp CrossFit, Owner.

Sunday was the final day of the Throwdown. Think you're up for the CrossFit challenge? you can join the group for one free session on Saturday mornings.
