ALBANY, GA (WALB) – The South Albany Medical Center wants to make sure the community has a healthier future through healthier living.

Saturday the medical center held their Fall Festival and Health fair.

More than a dozen vendors showed up to talk to visitors, they also got the chance to be screened for six diseases including diabetes and HIV.

"We're getting awareness out about having a healthier lifestyle we do know that childhood obesity is very big and we're getting the kids moving and jumping. This is a weekend initiative to help kids and bring awareness to the community about why we're here for." Joycelyn Yates, Operations Mgr. South Albany Medical Ctr.

The Medical Center has been open for five years and offers reduced fees for treatment to eligible patients.
