ALBANY, GA (WALB) – A milestone Saturday for one of Albany's most popular attractions.

The half-a-millionth visitor walked through the doors at the RiverQuarium.

A family of three from Middletown Pennsylvania in town visiting family received the title. Mom and dad gave the honor to 8-year-old Diego Berrones.

The Family received a lifetime membership to the RiverQuarium and a gift basket filled with gifts and discounts from local merchants.

"We decided this was one of the things we wanted to come and see we did a search on things to do in Albany and this came up and my son loves animals and aquariums and things like that so we decided to come here," said Michelle Berrones, 500,000th Visitor.

The attraction has come a long way, 5,500 people visited the RiverQuarium when it opened Labor day weekend in 2004.
