By Jade Bulecza - bio | email LOWNDES COUNTY, GA (WALB) –A Valdosta man is accused of stealing checks from from mailboxes in Lowndes County.
27-year old Joshua Barton is charged with theft of checks. Lowndes County authorities say he took the checks people wrote to pay bills out of their mailboxes near Hahira.
Authorities say he used brake fluid to wash out the information and make them payable to himself.
They say he cashed them at banks in Decatur and Tift counties. Barton is in the Lowndes County Jail.
