ALBANY, GA (WALB) –Prosecutors will seek the death penalty against a former Dougherty County jailer charged with killing his girlfriend two years ago.

36-year old Allen Robinson is charged with slitting the throat of 30 year old Roshanda Dowell.

Investigators say Robinson tried to drag Dowell into his car in an East Albany parking lot...then chased her with a knife and slashed her.

The D.A. says the killing was pre-meditated and that's why he'll seek the death penalty.

Dougherty District Attorney Greg Edwards said  "There were aggravating circumstances, the details of which include the method by which this homicide was allegedly carried out, and just the totality of circumstances which involved continuing issues of domestic violence."

This is the first death penalty case for Edwards since he became D.A. in 2008.
