VALDOSTA, GA (WALB) –A Valdosta food bank needs volunteers for it's annual make a difference day this weekend.
Second of Harvest of South Georgia is calling on the community to help organize food and stack the shelves on Saturday for four hours.
You can come by yourself or with a group.
Organizers say they only have about 42 employees in the 30 county area they serve so they depend on volunteers to help them feed the hungry.
"It's also a really good way for families to come and spend time together," said Shannon Taw Zapf with Second Harvest. "The children learn how to give back to the community that they live in. They learn about a little bit about poverty and when they're done with their work they can run out and get a hot dog."
Kids also have the opportunity to meet community heros like firefighters and K-9 officers.
The event is 8-12 Saturday and you get more information by clicking here.
