ALBANY, GA (WALB) – Eight Albany police officers were awarded for their exceptional work in preventing crime and apprehending criminals.

Wednesday five officers and their lieutenant, sergeant, and captain were presented with Unit Citation Awards at the Law Enforcement Center.

It is the first such program in the department.

The group is part of the uniform bureau in Albany's east district and calls themselves the Wolfpack.

"It feels great, we're doing our job but it's good to be recognized and let the officers know how the chief and the city feels about them, it's a good thing," said Capt. Mack Green, Albany Police Department.

The men received an award and a pin to display on their uniforms. Chief Proctor told the group he is extremely proud of the entire department, and will continue his work to make it world class.
