VALDOSTA, GA (WALB) - 19th ranked Valdosta State is starting their 4th string quarterback Thursday night on the road at third ranked North Alabama.

"The big thing for him is not to try to do more than he is capable of doing. Manage the game. Distribute the football to our players and make good decisions." The Blazers with one GSC loss face a big game Thursday 8:00 p.m. at Florence, Alabama.

Head coach David Dean says redshirt freshman Brett Whitmire is not ready to go after Whitmire separated his non-throwing shoulder in the Blazers last game two weeks ago.

Austen Roberts will make his first start on the road against one of the best defenses in division two.

Head coach David Dean has been impressed with Roberts play and poise so far this season and just wants his quarterback to play at the same level Thursday night.
