DECATUR COUNTY, GA (WALB) -

DECATUR COUNTY, GA (WALB) –A Decatur County family returned from church to find their home in flames Sunday.

Investigators believe the fire began near an electrical outlet in one of the children's rooms at the home on Beaver Circle.

A neighbor called 9-1-1 and Decatur Fire and Rescue along with Brinson, Kendrick, and Fowlston volunteer units responded to put out the fire.

The homeowner, Tony Hurst, Sr., normally doesn't attend church with his family but says he's glad he did that day.

"You know, you can replace material things. But if someone had gotten hurt or lost their lives, you can't replace that. So I'm all right with that," says an optimistic Hurst.

Firefighters say the flames spread quickly through the house.

This is the second time in less than two years the Hurst family has survived a house fire.
