ALBANY, GA (WALB) – An elderly Albany woman is recovering Friday night after driving her car into a parked train.  It happened around 10 Friday morning.

85-year old Johnnie Hunter was driving along Adkins Street and approached the stop sign, but for whatever reason instead of stopping, the car accelerated, and crashed into a parked car.

She was stuck under the steering wheel, but witnesses were able to pull her to safety.  Paramedics took her to the hospital to be checked out.

Devona Bailey was outside and watched the entire event unfold.  She said, "When she got to the stop sign, instead of stopping, she pressed on the gas.  You can see she kind of went faster and into the train.  I'm surprised she walked away."

Hunter has been charged with failure to maintain lane.
