Search begins again for missing Lee County woman

By Jim Wallace - bio | email

ALBANY, GA (WALB) –Law enforcers from Dougherty and Lee County have started another search effort for a missing Lee County woman.  This morning officers and volunteers with kayaks are searching the Lake Chehaw area.

77-year old Fannie Corley disappeared there Christmas Eve.

Her car was found on the North Jefferson Street bridge, and police and her family believe she jumped into the water.

Now that Georgia Power has lowered the level of Lake Chehaw and the Kinchafoonee Creek,  Officials have launched another search effort.   Captain Jimmy Sexton said "There is a lot of the area we can search that we weren't able, accessible to with the creek up."

The search is expected to continue most of the day.
