CORDELE, GA (WALB) - Lee County softball team had to play two schools named Northside on the first day of the 1-AAAA softball tournament Tuesday.
The Lady Trojans beat Northside-Columbus 6-0 behind the pitching of senior Lindsey Tompkins.
Lee County lost a heartbreaker 2-1 in eight innings to Northside-Warner Robins.
Lee County now plays Hardaway at 4:00 p.m. Wednesday with the winner guaranteeing themselves a state playoff berth and the loser is done for the season.
Thomas County Central beat Hardaway 2-1 but the Lady Yellow Jackets fell 3-0 to Houston County.
Thomas County Central will play the winner of Tuesday's late game between Northside-Columbus and Warner Robins at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
The 1-AAAA softball team ends on Thursday at the Crisp County complex.
