WORTH COUNTY, GA (WALB) – A man who got out of his truck to retrieve a bag of cans was hit by a car Monday afternoon on US 82 in Worth County.

State troopers say Haley Thigpen was heading east on 82 in a Chevy Cobalt when she struck Randy Scott.

He was standing on the passenger side of this Ford Ranger parked half way in the road.

Thigpen then swerved and went down an embankment before her car landed on its roof.

Thigpen was released from Phoebe Putney Hospital. Troopers say Scott suffered a broken leg.

Georgia State Patrol is still investigating.
