ALBANY,  GA (WALB) – An Albany man who was trying to get away from police crashed into two utility poles knocking out power to at least eight homes and causing a big mess.

Georgia Power worked at Pine Bluff Road and Lindsey Avenue in Albany for about eight hours replacing the power poles.

Dougherty county police say 35-year-old David Moore Jr. ran a stop sign Sunday night at the intersection of War Eagle Avenue and Pine Bluff.

When police tried pulling him over, he sped north on Pine Bluff but soon crashed into a mailbox, a trash can and the two power poles before his vehicle overturned.

He's at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital right now with injuries that police say didn't appear to be life threatening. He will be charged with DUI, reckless driving, attempting to elude officers and other traffic violations.
