PUTNEY, GA (WALB) – Four people in a Dougherty County neighborhood had to run for cover when shots rang out Saturday night.

Heather Ferguson showed us where one of the bullets entered her mothers Broach Avenue house.

Four people were on the back porch when someone started firing shots from the street, they took cover.

Dougherty county police and officers found at least 16 shell casings on the street.

No one was hurt but a bullet grazed a tree, and a put hole in a power pole. The shooting has the family warning others.

"We don't need to shy away from this and go in our houses and become hermits and be afraid to come outside it's nerve wrecking and upsetting yes, but we've got to stand up and speak out," said Heather Ferguson, Putney Resident.

A couple was walking toward a nearby intersection could have been hurt.

Witnesses say they saw two white men in a pick up speed away from the scene. DCP is investigating.
