ALBANY, GA (WALB) – There's a new organization in Albany to mentor people who want to start their own small business.
The Albany Chamber of Commerce cut the ribbon on the SCORE office this morning. SCORE stands for Service Corps of Retired Executives. It's a group of business savvy people who have the experience to help entrepreneurs write business plans to get their small business off the ground.
Leland Burkart said, "Our process is to get people started in their business, to grow their business and to be successful. You hear it said all the time, the backbone of America is the small businessman, yes the big companies, we can't exist without them, but yet, the jobs are being created, the ones and twos and threes are really the backbone of the economy."
The service is free to entrepreneurs looking for counseling and business advice. The SCORE office is located in the Albany Chamber of Commerce building.
