ALBANY, GA (WALB) –  Students enjoyed the final day of the 8th annual water festival at the Flint Riverquarium Thursday.

Students from Terrell Academy listened to Chief Meteorologist Yolanda Amadeo talk about the water cycle. They looked at clouds and learned the differences between a hurricane and tornado. Students also learned how meteorologists measure the rain southwest Georgia gets.

"Many kids have not seen a rain gauge before and don't know the technical term in terms of what the instrument actually is which measures rain. The the instrument that measures temperatures, but how many students have actually seen a rain gauge," said Amadeo.

Students also learned how the National Weather Service uses balloons to take temperatures and readings above the earth.
