ALBANY, GA (WALB) - NBA training camps are opening this week.Albany's Alexander Johnson is in Houston looking to make the Rockets roster.

Johnson played a season each in Memphis and Miami but has been out of the league for the last two years.

He was released after training camp last year by Utah.

Johnson's play in the NBA's developmental league had several teams wanting him.

The Rockets signed him in April and Johnson has been waiting patiently to show the league is back after shoulder surgery.

He faces a tough battle to make the Rockets roster.

Alexander Johnson said. "They just signed Brad Miller and they have got a couple of other guys. They signed (Andrew) Scola back and they have got Chucky Hayes. I am not worried about anybody but me. I just got to do what I know how to do and the rest is history."

The Rockets open their preseason schedule on Tuesday.
