ALBANY, GA (WALB) - Dougherty County EMS workers are excited that construction is finally underway on their long-delayed new headquarters.

Construction crews finished up the footing and foundation for the $12,000 square foot facility on Palmyra Road.

It's four times the size of the current outdated building on Jefferson Street.

Some amenities the headquarters include seven bedroom, more bays for ambulances, visitor parking, and a conference room.

Workers are thankful for the support of county leaders. The roughly $2 million dollar project is expected to be finished in May.
