AMERICUS, GA (WALB) - The Americus-Sumter Panthers kicked off their move to Region 1-AAA in a big way last Friday night.
The Americus Sumter Panthers are this week's WALB Team of the Week.
Head coach Michael Pollock and the Panthers accepting the trophy and game ball after their 20-12 homecoming win over Worth County.
The loss snapped a three game losing streak for the Panthers in their first season with their new head coach.
A coach who is proud of his team's big win but wants to see his players continue to get better each week.
Head coach Michael Pollock said. "Going into the region, we knew Worth County had a fine football team, they played some stiff competition. They have a couple of big wins under their belt and we felt like we could get a good start to region play it would give us a leg up and give us a big step forward getting into the playoffs."
