ALBANY, GA (WALB) – Camilla Police are looking for the gunman who held up the Food Mart on Newton Road Sunday night.

Store surveillance cameras captured the robber walking in the store just before 9 o'clock dressed in all black clothing.  Moments later he pulls a gun on the clerk behind the counter demanding money..

"When (officers) got there, they spoke with the cashier who told them that a black male came in with black rag around his head and black baseball cap and produced a firearm," said Chief Investigator Vernon Nobles.

Video shows the gunman ordering the clerk to empty both registers. He tosses cash on the counter, all the while staring down the barrel of a gun.

"It's a very busy store. That's why we're really surprised to hear it got robbed. With all the people going in and out, you wouldn't think it would happen at a busy store like that," said Farrell Sellers.

He runs an automotive shop across the street from the Food Mart. He says this part of town is typically quiet, but the news of his neighbor being robbed has definitely caught his attention.

"It makes you more aware. So you'll be more careful about things you might let slide that wouldn't normally do, you would do it now," said Sellers.

Police say they have received leads about a person of interest but no arrests have been made.

Investigators were able to get fingerprints from the store.

They don't believe this robbery is connected to a robbery at the Exxon Route 66 in Camilla back in April during which two people were shot.

No arrests have been made in that case.
