Rams rumble over Tigers in the Swamp

WAYCROSS, GA (WALB) -   Albany State rumbled early and then held on in the fourth quarter to beat Savannah State 28-14 in the first Rumble in the Swamp Classic at Memorial Stadium Waycross.

Rams opened the scoring in the first quarter with a touchdown run by LiRonnie Davis.

Albany State added a touchdown pass from Stanley Jennings to Christopher Oliver and then a short touchdown run by Robert Welton in the final minute of the first half to lead 21-0 at halftime.

Kareem Hess touchdown run in the third quarter upped the Rams lead to 28-0.

A fumble set up Savannah State for their first touchdown which was a pass from A.J. Defilippis to Dylan Cook.

Sheldon Barnes touchdown run in the 4th quarter cut the Rams lead to 28-14.

Rams stopped the Tigers on downs on their next drive to preserve the win.

Albany State is now 4-0 and back at home next week against Lane College.
