ALBANY, GA (WALB) – Georgia ranks number two in the nation for childhood obesity rates, an event Saturday encouraged both children and families to get active.

Albany Recreation and Parks Department and Youth Becoming Healthy invited the community out to Tift Park to play like a kid again at the Albany Family Play Day.

The afternoon was dedicated to the celebration of healthy and active play.

"What we're tying to do is to get parents and their kids back outside and let them see that it's fun to get outside and play," said Pamela Green-Jackson, Youth Becoming Healthy.

The Home Depot took their Kids Workshop to the park for the play day, and provided hundreds of craft kits for the event.
