ALBANY, GA (WALB) – A sculpture at Albany State University is recognized as an outstanding symbol of the culture of Historically Black Colleges and Universities.

This artwork outside the HYPER Gym is called "Soil to Sun."

It was named one of the Seven Wonders of HBCU's.

The online contest picked the most iconic and historic emblems of black colleges.

The sculpture was designed by retired ASU professor Arthur Berry.

It includes a plow to represent work, a drum and violin to represent creativity, a book to represent development of the mind, a mortar cap to represent achievement, and a sun to represent aspiration.
