CAMILLA, GA (WALB) – Months of work on a downtown beautification project in the City of Camilla is almost complete.

Thanks to a $500,000 StreetScape Grant and some money from the city, new sidewalks went in all over downtown.

The project also included trees and streetlights. Sarah Kirkland owns a salon downtown and told us she didn't mind the minor inconvenience.

"It's going to help our business, I've been downtown and been through renovations before but this one was very convenient they tried to be careful not to keep our doors closed, but we're really happy with it," said Sarah Kirkland, Sarah's Scissors.

Kirkland said she can't wait to see downtown decorated for the holidays. The mayor told us the project should be finished by Thanksgiving.
