ALBANY, GA (WALB) - Rescue crews were standing by at Southwest Georgia Regional Airport Thursday evening as a pilot made an emergency landing after a landing gear malfunction.
As Kevin Coalson came in for a landing, he noticed the left main landing gear was not working. At the last minute, he powered up and went back into the air. Coalson circled for 45 minutes until the gear was secured.
He landed safely around 5:30 p.m. at the airport's fixed base operation runway. Airport rescue crews, Albany Police, Firefighters and Dougherty County EMS responded.
Maintenance crews will take a look at the plane Friday.
