Blazers ready for final commando raid at Southern Arkansas

VALDOSTA, GA (WALB) - The Valdosta State football team gearing up for their first commando raid of the season.It is also going to be VSU's last road trip to Southern Arkansas who is leaving the Gulf South Conference.



The Blazers are facing a Mulerider team that is winless this season but has a very good defense led by defensive end Cedric Thornton.

It is a must win game for both teams who have both dropped their first conference game of the season.

Head coach David Dean says his Blazers understand they have very little margin of error for the rest of the season.


The Blazers make a one day road trip to Southern Arkansas on Saturday for their first Gulf South Conference road game.


David Dean said. "Wwe can't afford to do that. Being a young football team we cannot get behind early. We have got to get off to a fast start. Hopefullly, coming off a loss is going to help us to do that. Help us to focus a lot quicker."

Game time is 7:00 p.m. eastern Saturday in Magnolia, Arkansas.
