Mathew's Horrible Day

ALBANY,  GA (WALB) –The children's book market is a competitive field for new authors. That's because kids today just have so much to choose from.

Mitchell Meadows from Moultrie decided to write a children's book anyway.  The title of his book is "Mathew's Horrible Day."

He was inspired by his 4-year-old son to write the book. Security officer by day and children's author by night. "Not really, It hasn't sunk in yet," said Meadows.

Mitchell Meadows is a father of two, has always enjoyed writing. "I wrote my first poem in class, and it was published by Young Author's of America," said Meadows.

After reading countless bedtime stories to his kids, he noticed a problem."A lot of the books, we sat down to read with our kids; they just didn't make sense," said Meadows.

"Mathew's Horrible Day" starts off in the gutter, but ends in a happier place. " I wrote this one about my son, and wanted to do something for him and his school. It was really a shock. They accepted it, and it was published," said Meadows.

Even though it's a children's book, the moral of the story isn't small. "Just because your day starts bad, doesn't mean it's going to end bad," said Meadows.

This is no fad, Mathew has one pretty cool dad. Meadows is not a full-time writer, it's just one of his hobbies on the side.
