ALBANY, GA (WALB) –  Phoebe Putney chief Joel Wernick was named in the 25th Anniversary edition of Georgia Trend magazine as one of the top 25 state leaders.

Wernick's leadership in the growth of the hospital is one reason he was highlighted. When he arrived at Phoebe in 1990, the hospital only had one site. There are now 30 sites.

Wernick credits the team of people he works with for his success.

"I wouldn't be there without this organization and the great people who work here that make things happen, so I'm proud for our organization, pleased that Southwest Georgia gets a little bit of notoriety," said Wernick.

Other Georgia leaders on the list include Lt. Governor Casey Cagle, Senator Johnny Isakson, and Ambassador Andrew Young.
