Former Wildcats coach hired by AFL's Voodoo

NEW ORLEANS, LA (WALB) - Former South Georgia Wildcats head coach Derek Stingley has gotten his first head coaching job in the Arena Football League.

Stingley on Tuesday was named head coach of the New Orleans Voodoo.

It is kind of ironic since Stingley, the 2007 AF2 coach of the year with the Wildcats, left the team after the 2008 season to become the Voodoo's defensive coordinator.

Only then team owner Tom Benson folded the Voodoo one month later.

Stingley worked as the defensive coordinator at Bossier Shreveport in the AF2 in 2009.

Bossier joined the new AFL in 2010 and team owners recently announced they are moving the team to New Orleans in 2011 where they will take the Voodoo nickname.
