ALBANY, GA (WALB) – The Albany Museum of Art won't be moving anytime soon. Dougherty County's local option sales tax collections came up about $1.8 Million short. So county commissioners will reduce the SPLOST budget by that amount and cut the museum relocation project.

Commissioner Dr. Charles Lingle said, "They mentioned that they were no longer interested in coming downtown and we just decided if they're not interested, let's put that money to work."

Collections for the one penny sales tax end in March 2011. A new penny sales tax will then begin, if voters approve the measure on the November ballot.
