Early Voting begins Monday for General Election

ALBANY, GA (WALB) –  Polling locations all over the state will open first thing Monday morning for early voting for the November second general election.

The Lee County polling place has only been closed two weeks since April first because of early voting for primaries, runoffs, and special elections. Early voting ends Friday for the Post 6 Leesburg City Council special election. Election officials hope voters will take advantage of early voting to reduce crowds on November second.

"We're hoping that it will be an active campaign season. We're here, we're ready to go, we have the ballots we have the machines we have the personnel so we're just waiting on the voters," said Veronica Johnson, Lee County's Election Supervisor.

You must have a valid state or federal government photo ID to cast a ballot. You can see a sample state ballot for the general election on the Secretary of State's website at http://www.sos.ga.gov/.
