ALBANY, GA (WALB) –  A glitch in the Federal Aviation Administration's flight plan system delayed at least one Atlantic Southeast Airlines flight to Albany Thursday.

The 5:55 AM flight left Southwest Georgia Regional Airport on time Thursday morning, but the return flight was delayed by nearly 45 minutes because of delays in Atlanta.

"We're keeping a close eye on things as they progress because as most people know the air traffic system usually works as a domino affect and when something starts in the morning the rest of the system takes a hit for the rest of the day," said Yvette Aehle, Southwest Georgia Regional Airport Director.

This evening's flights are expected to be on time, but connecting flights in Atlanta could be disrupted. Passengers should check with their airline.

The problem forced airline dispatchers to send flight plans to air traffic controllers who entered them manually into the system. Computers were back up and running by 10:00 AM, but the damage was already done.
