Gainesville police searching for 3 missing kids

Associated Press - October 12, 2009 6:54 PM ET

GAINESVILLE, Ga. (AP) - Gainesville police are searching for three children who went missing after going for a walk.

Lt. Carol Martin said Monday that 13-year-old Janet Villanuva left for a walk with her 7-year-old twin brothers Alexander and Alexis Villanuva.

They were last seen Sunday evening near a shopping center.

The parents called the police at 2 a.m. after their own search for the children was unsuccessful. Martin said police do not suspect any foul play at this time.

She said there is a carnival going on in the area near the shopping center and the children might have went there and stayed too late.

Gainesville Police issued a "missing child" alert at 5 a.m. and investigators are still searching for the children at the homes of friends and family.
