ALBANY, GA (WALB) - A U.S. Marine is back home in South Georgia after more than a year in a war zone.

Corporal Dustin Griffin from Tifton touched down at Southwest Georgia Regional Airport Thursday night after eight days of traveling and being processed.

He was greeted by family and a group of fellow marines from MCLB-Albany.

"I had a really good time in Iraq and I'm glad to be back home, it was 13 months doing security operations, it was a fantastic learning experience," said Cpl. Dustin Griffin MCLB-Albany 2nd Detachment.

Griffin says he enjoyed his time serving in Iraq, but he's glad to be back home for some rest and relaxation.

He helped ensure the security of Marine convoys in Iraq.
