ALBANY, GA (WALB) - An 18-year-old Pelham High School student is being held in the Dougherty County jail without bond, charged with seriously beating an Albany boy at the Albany Mall.

Steven Guerrero was arrested at his school Tuesday and charged with aggravated battery. Police say an argument over a girl led to a fight.

Witnesses say Guerrero, a member of the wrestling team, threw 15-year-old Dwayne Watson over his shoulder onto the concrete, and then hit him in the face when he was down.

Watson's Mother says the 15-year-old is hospitalized with head injuries and a broken jaw.

Guerrero's family says Watson started the fight, hitting Guerrero twice before he defended himself.
